Ask me anything (seriously!)

Hey Reader, welcome to the weekend!

This is coming to you late today, because I spent all day on an HX Expedition Cruise ship that is currently docked in Seattle. I was able to get a really thorough look at this ship before it heads to Antarctica for the season. (And it's fabulous!)

If you don't know what expedition cruising is, I'll explain. It's a slightly different type of cruise that focuses on adventure, nature, learning, and exploration in more remote destinations. The ships often have fewer passengers, and go to places that bigger ships cannot. And they focus on immersive, interactive experiences: instead of sitting in a casino, you'll be kayaking with whales or attending a lecture with an environmental scientist.

I have also had Antarctica on the brain this week, because I'm working on something special for the Windward Circle (that's you!). Here's a sneak peek of that:

Okay, enough about my week.

What I really wanted to do today is start getting to know YOU better. I only email once a week, so it would take us months or a year to really get to know each other, Reader.

I also want to get to know you because travel is so personal to each of us. We all have different preferences, whims, and things we want to experience. And I only want to send you things that inspire, delight, and interest you.

So. How about we have a little inbox get-together?

I want to be your go-to person to answer your questions about destinations, hotels, activities, travel planning, and DIY-ing.

Because yes, I believe that sometimes it’s better to do it yourself than hire me. (Gasp.)

Anyway…we’re going to start this right now. For this whole week, I’m hosting what I like to call an Inbox Ask Me Anything.

This is where you hit reply with any question you’ve got in regards to my specialty - travel.

Of course, I know about the countries, hotels, and tour operators I have experienced…but anything is fair game. Seriously, ask me anything!

I’ve set aside time every day to answer, so when you ask, I’ll be sending you a personal video reply with my best answers.

I believe all of us have a "next trip" we want to take, Reader. And I want to help you get it that much closer to reality. So let’s get to it, shall we?

Hit reply and ask me anything!

I really cannot wait to hear from you, Reader.

Hey Reader. Did you know I'm an avid weightlifter? I know it has nothing to do with travel, but it's a part of my world, and I wanted to share it with you today. I hope that's okay. In fact, just this week, I squatted with weights for the first time since ankle surgery in December. I went super light (for me) - 135 lbs - but it felt great! Speaking of things you didn’t know…I was thinking about all the things I don’t know about luxury travel. So I spent some time on Google and found some...

Carolyn and her husband in front of an ancient Greek temple

It’s fair to say that I can be a bit wordy, Reader. So today I thought I’d switch it up. Rather than tell, I want to show you something. I love this picture because: a) I am BEAMING, b) I actually got some sun on this trip, and c) it represents something I had dreamed about since first grade. I was the kid who did all her drawings, creative writing, and projects on ancient Greek mythology. And the adult who sunk WAY too many hours into Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Getting to see these ancient...

Hey Reader. It's been a wild and wonderful week over here, planning several amazing trips for folks in Seattle. Today was great - not only did I get to write an email in French, I also saved a client $575 on airfare this morning. A new high score! If you've been here for a while, you may remember that back in October I chatted with my friend and colleague Chanelle Carlin on her podcast, Now You May Kiss. Chanelle is a wedding officiant here in the PNW, and we go way back. On our last episode,...
