Behind the scenes

Hey Reader.

The weather outside is getting darker and colder, but inside my head? It’s nice and sunny!

Because this week, it's been all Africa, all the time for me!

First, my clients have been sharing the coolest pictures from their time in South Africa, Uganda, and Tanzania. They saw a newborn forest gorilla yesterday! 😍

Second, I've spent this whole week at a conference called We Are Africa, with all-African colleagues who operate lodges, safari companies, hotels, and so much more. I've learned words in Setswana and Swahili, gotten "street cred" for having lived in poorer places like Mali and Sierra Leone, and heard crazy wildlife stories from people who have been working in the bush for 30+ years.

I now have a whole new roster of African colleagues-turned-friends, who can offer us some of the most interesting experiences on the planet.

So my brain is pretty full of new ideas, but I do have an idea that I keep coming back to.

I know some people feel a bit intimidated by Africa, so I am thinking about creating more resources on Africa. I'd love to share my best guidance on safaris, but also what's beyond the wildlife. (Spoiler alert: there is way more cool stuff in Africa than you can imagine.)

The click won’t go anywhere special, but I’ll be able to know you clicked. Thanks!

If you can't tell, I’m very excited about Africa right now. There are so many hidden gems that I want to experience before they get "discovered" - like Uganda, Zambia, and Namibia, to name a few. And I definitely want to return to places like Kenya that have changed since I've lived there.

I think my next few trips are spoken for, since everyone has invited me to come see their part of Africa. I'd be silly not to take them up on it!

Anyway, thanks for letting me share this stuff with you. I love having you here with me in the Windward Circle, and giving you a peek behind the screen.

-Carolyn

PS - Is there a specific African destination, experience, or animal you've been wondering about? Just reply and ask me anything. If I don't know the answer, I know someone who does.

A suite at the Four Seasons George V in Paris

Hey Reader, I am super behind this week, so this will be quick. First, it's official: I'm a Certified Travel Associate (CTA). Peep my new email signature - I added my MPH too, because why not? I worked hard for that degree! (And it's how I was able to live in 9 countries!) Secondly, I wanted you to see this article about Four Seasons Preferred Partners if you haven't yet. I am a Four Seasons Preferred Partner, too, and if you are ever looking to book a Four Seasons property, read this first....
